The news that Once Mekel would perform and lend his voice at the wedding reception of Al Ghazali and Alyssa Daguise caused quite a stir among fans. Especially since it was mentioned that this performance would be a sweet surprise, as Al is known to idolize the era of Once with Dewa 19.

However, the legendary vocalist finally spoke up and directly denied the news. In his clarification, Once emphasized that there had never been any discussion with Ahmad Dhani regarding his performance at the event.

The statement also clarifies the speculation that has developed in the media, which originated from Ahmad Dhani's remarks in a podcast hosted by Soleh Solihun along with Ari Lesmana from Fourtwnty.

In the podcast, Dhani mentioned that he had contacted Once to perform with Dewa 19 at his son's reception. "Because Al really likes Dewa 19. Dewa 19 and Once are Al's childhood memories," said Dhani.

However, Once denied that the invitation was ever conveyed to him directly. "When I met Dhani during a hearing session in Commission X in the last legislative session, there was no conversation or invitation for me to perform with Dewa at Al's reception. I can assure you that there was none," he asserted.

He also added that perhaps Dhani forgot, because the discussion was only about Al's wedding plans and his children's love for Dewa 19. "Maybe he is reluctant to talk about it directly. Besides, there was no official invitation or via direct message. I only managed to see the invitation through WhatsApp via an online ticket agent," said Once.
