"Dad actually had heart problems, so I was thinking if dad had heart issues. Then yesterday the doctor's diagnosis also mentioned that dad had Alzheimer's. So the Alzheimer's has been severe for the last 2-3 months," said Rendy Kjaernett at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Sunday (1/5/2025).

The Alzheimer’s disease that Ernest suffers from has caused him to experience many limitations. In the last three months, the late Ernest has been unable to use various devices such as his phone and wallet.

"That's why he no longer uses social media, doesn’t hold a cellphone, doesn’t hold a wallet, doesn’t hold anything, because he forgets, can’t access anything anymore, he forgets his password, forgets his pin, everything," said Rendy Kjaernett.

In addition to Alzheimer’s, Ernest also suffers from liver health issues. Rendy admitted he does not know the details of that condition, but mentioned that old age is also a major factor. "As for the liver, liver failure, how to say it. I can’t really say, the important thing is the consumption of food and drinks is not good in excess, it’s like piling up. He is already 80 years old," explained Rendy.

Lady Nayoan's husband only reunited with his father at the age of 27, after being apart for a long time. This made him not fully understand Ernest's previous health condition. "I also met my dad when I was 27 years old, and now it’s like this. He didn’t want to be a burden. In the end, I said, ‘Okay, I’ll look for a ticket there as soon as possible,’" he said.

Ernest's departure was a heavy blow for Rendy, who felt there was still a lot of time to spend together. This farewell moment felt more painful because, last October, his father's condition still seemed fine.

"If you say it’s heavy, yes it’s very heavy, I still can’t believe it. In October, he was still fine, dad was still healthy, still calling, still video calling. Still joking around with us," concluded Rendy Kjaernett.
