Indonesian pop diva, Agnez Mo, has recently been caught up in a legal case involving the song 'Bilang Saja'. On January 30, 2025, the Central Jakarta Commercial Court ruled that Agnez Mo was guilty of singing the song without permission from its creator, Ari Bias.

This ruling requires Agnez Mo to pay royalties of Rp 1.5 billion to Ari Bias. Of course, this decision has caused an uproar among singers and music lovers. Agnez Mo has also expressed her disappointment with the interpretation of the Copyright Law, which she feels is detrimental to her as an artist.

Agnez explained that she only learned about the lawsuit in August 2024, while she was busy promoting her latest single, 'Get Loose', in the United States. The cassation process related to the case filed by Agnez Mo is still ongoing.

In an effort to alleviate confusion and explain the situation she is facing, Agnez Mo visited the Ministry of Law.

Agnez Mo also expressed that she wants a more open discussion about copyright in Indonesia. "The goal is to learn what the law is like, because as an Indonesian citizen, I want to comply with the law," she stated.

"Actually, it was just a conversation or discussion with the Minister, thank you so much for receiving and meeting," said Agnez Mo, Wednesday (19/2/2025).

"But unfortunately, perhaps because of the case that everyone knows, there is confusion not just for me but for other singers and songwriters in Indonesia," he explained.

Personally, Agnez Mo also admitted that she wants to share her experiences as a songwriter and also as a singer. She hopes that with this dialogue, musicians and songwriters can better understand their rights and avoid legal issues in the future.
