D'Masiv was formed on March 3, 2003. When it was first formed, D'Masiv had a formation of 6 personnel, consisting of two guitarists, one drummer, one keyboardist, and a vocalist.
As time went by, this band based in Jakarta finally became only 5 personnel, namely Rian, Kiki, Rama, Ray, and Wahyu.
Deciding to pursue a career in music since a young age, Rian and his friends had to start from scratch. Even at the beginning, they experienced something sad.
In 2006, D'Masiv was stranded in Surabaya for 2 weeks. During that time, in order to survive, they were willing to perform from cafes to bars every night.
While performing, they were not sure if they would get paid. Even sometimes, they were only paid with fried rice. Nevertheless, they still enjoyed it.
The fate of these five people changed when D'Masiv participated in the A Mild Live Wanted competition in 2007. They emerged as the winners and later released the single Tak Bisa Hidup Tanpamu.
In 2008, Rian and his friends released their debut album titled Perubahan. From here, their name became more famous, and they were able to hold tours around cities in Indonesia and even abroad.
2021 is the best year for D'Masiv. They are the only Indonesian band that has been able to record at Abbey Road Studio, a music studio that was once used by The Beatles.
