The sad news of the passing of Titiek Puspa on Thursday (10/4/2025) leaves a deep sorrow for Morgan Oey. For the 34-year-old man, Eyang Titiek is not just a legendary figure in the music world, but a grandmother figure who provided love and valuable advice at the beginning of his career.
"Yes, I was close to my late grandmother, so I consider Titiek Puspa as my own grandmother. It's really sad to hear this. My condolences," said Morgan when met in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (10/4/2025).
Memories of the past when Morgan was still active with the group SM*SH are still vividly etched in his mind. At that time, Morgan and his young peers, who were just stepping into the entertainment world, felt protected by the figure of Titiek Puspa.
"Yes, Eyang was very kind, back in the days when I was still in SM*SH, it really felt like we were being cared for by Eyang. We were still newcomers, just entering the music world," he said.
One of the most memorable pieces of advice for Morgan is the teaching to remain humble and live simply. Titiek Puspa, according to him, always emphasized the importance of being down-to-earth even while at the peak of popularity.
"Yes, the advice is to not forget to stay grounded. At that time, we met Eyang when SM*SH was just starting to be recognized by people. Don't forget to be humble and don't forget to save," he expressed.
Morgan admitted that the messages felt very personal, especially because he felt an emotional closeness similar to the relationship between a grandchild and a grandmother. "Yes, just like with Oma. I was close to my late grandmother, so I consider her like my own grandmother, thus the advice is what I hold on to," he said.
In addition to giving wise advice, Morgan also reminisced about how Eyang Titiek provided encouragement and positive energy through her way of speaking and greeting the juniors in the entertainment industry. "Yes, my first impression of Titiek was that she was very nurturing; we were given advice just like my grandmother would," he remarked.
At the end of the conversation, Morgan expressed his best prayers for the deceased. He hopes that all the goodness of Titiek Puspa during her life becomes a continuous charity. "Ya Alfatihah for Eyang, may Eyang no longer be in pain there, I extend my condolences to the family left behind," he concluded. /aal
