8 Portraits of Vega Darwanti Speaking Up About the Phenomenon of Artists Selling on TikTok - Admitting Something!

Lately, there has been a lot of news about many artists selling on TikTok. It turns out that this phenomenon often sparks controversy, and many even say that it has a negative impact on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). As a public figure who has been involved in the entertainment industry for quite some time, Vega Darwanti also spoke up.

Presenter Vega Darwanti spoke up about the accusation of artists who sell online, which has resulted in the decline of traditional markets. According to Vega, it is perfectly fine for public figures to sell using social media.

"According to me, actually public figures are people who really utilize social media for anything. Because their work is inseparable from social media, so they can utilize anything," said Vega in the Tendean area, Jakarta, on Sunday (24/9/2023).

"Selling artists are actually offered, they don't sell themselves out of the blue. They are also only offered products to become affiliates, then share the profits or whatever. Well, in my opinion, it's not wrong to enjoy the benefits of social media," Vega added.

Vega herself admitted that she does not sell online, but she is just one of the consumers. Usually, Vega often shops online because the prices are cheap and she has a busy work schedule, so she can shop anywhere.

"I also enjoy online shopping. With online shopping, we don't need to waste time, the package can just be delivered. The prices are also cheap," said Vega.

In addition, Vega also doesn't want to turn a blind eye to the fact that the online buying and selling system causes traditional market traders to suffer losses due to lack of visitors. "It's a dilemma. I myself am a consumer and who doesn't like cheap goods? But if it turns out that the cheap prices we buy lead to people not being able to sell because of short distribution, it actually becomes a dilemma," said Vega.

Of course, according to Vega, the government's role is expected to provide a solution to this problem. However, it doesn't mean that selling on social media should be banned, as some discussions suggest.

"I can't comment because I don't trade, so I don't know. Hopefully, there is a good way out. We can't be selfish," concluded Vega Darwanti.
