80 Disability Organizations Sue Over Crazy Person Free from Covid Statement, Deddy Corbuzier Apologizes

Kapanlagi.com - The Healthy Mind Association along with dozens of disability organizations have issued an open lawsuit against Deddy Corbuzier and Mongol. The lawsuit is related to their statement in the Close The Door podcast regarding the sentence that People with Mental Disorders (PWMD) are free from Covid-19.

In the lawsuit, Deddy is requested to stop circulating the content, apologize to PWMD and the general public, and promise not to repeat it. In order to avoid controversy, this bald-headed man agrees to it.

1. Not Knowing the Use of the Word 'Gila'

Deddy Corbuzier apologized for two things through a post on his official Instagram shortly after receiving a summons. First, about his ignorance in using the word 'gila' (crazy).

"So I apologize if anyone was offended by the word 'gila'. Seriously... I didn't know that those words were wrong. Honestly, I was surprised because I checked in the KBBI (Indonesian dictionary) and the word 'gila' is still used, and I just found out about the term 'ODGJ' (People with Mental Disorders). It means I'm not smart and I'm not updated. Please forgive me. Forgive my ignorance and narrow knowledge," wrote Deddy as quoted from his caption on Wednesday (30/6/2021).

2. Comedy Context

The second apology is about a joke with Mongol that mentioned People with Mental Disorders being immune to Covid-19. Deddy Corbuzier explained that it was only in the context of comedy.

"Secondly, I also apologize if Mongol and I talked about ODGJ not getting Covid. I think in that context, Mongol's context is comedy. And sometimes comedy doesn't align with reality or logic. That's what I know. There is no intention to deliberately insult anyone through that comedy in the podcast, in my opinion. So maybe we don't understand the context. Sorry," explained Deddy.
