A Series of Controversial Content Created by Baim Wong, the Latest is a Domestic Violence Prank that Triggers Netizens' Anger

Baim Wong went viral last year for a video of him driving away an elderly man named Kakek Suhud. Initially, Baim was followed by Kakek Suhud who was offering his merchandise persistently, but Baim Wong found it bothersome and decided to drive him away. The video went viral and received a lot of criticism, prompting Baim Wong to personally apologize to Kakek Suhud.

He also came under scrutiny after pulling a prank that threatened a parking attendant and ended up in jail. At that time, Baim visited Surabaya and pranked a parking attendant who didn't know who he was. Baim claimed to be the son of the Governor of East Java, even collaborating with the local police. He managed to make the parking attendant scared.

Baim Wong also visited the owner of a warteg (food stall) in Simprug, South Jakarta, which went viral for still standing strong amidst a fire disaster. Although his intention was to draw lessons from the content, Baim Wong was still criticized by netizens for exposing the victims whose homes were destroyed by the fire.

Baim Wong received criticism from netizens after buying a bunch of birds on the side of the road out of pity for seeing them living in cages. Baim bought eight birds, including cerukcuk, parkit, and lovebird, along with their cages for Rp 500,000 to release them again. However, Baim received backlash from netizens for offering too low a price to buy all the birds he released. 

Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven create content while giving a suitcase containing Rp 500 million to Bonge, one of the icons of Citayam Fashion Week. However, it was later revealed that the money was not intended for Bonge, but for the Citayam Fashion Week event. The money was also not actually given to Bonge as shown in their YouTube content.

Baim Wong once again faced criticism from netizens for visiting a viral elementary school student named Tamara who had lice in her hair. In the content, Baim bought the viral girl a folding bike and some money for her mother who works as a scavenger. He uploaded photos of the elementary school student and her family on Instagram, and received a lot of backlash from netizens for not obscuring Tamara's face. Baim was even compared to Ibu Vera (the viral teacher) who did not show the student's face.

The Citayem Fashion Week community hypnotized Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven to come to them. Not only did they come, but they also prepared money for the members of the community by creating the Citayam Fashion Show event. Unfortunately, their good intentions turned into a problem after Baim Wong and his company registered Citayem Fashion Week as a brand under the Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI) at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, and instead invited criticism from the public for being seen as taking advantage of the popularity of Citayem Fashion Week.

Recently, Baim Wong and Paula pulled a domestic violence prank on the police during the viral domestic violence case involving Rizki Billar and Lesti. Shortly after it was aired, the content was deleted after receiving backlash from netizens and artists. One of them is Deddy Corbuzier, who believes that both of them have demeaned the police institution and offended the victims of domestic violence. They are potentially facing criminal charges for alleged violations of Article 220 of the Criminal Code regarding false reports.
