Accused of Being a Cheesy YouTuber and Criticized by Netizens, Ari Lasso is Not Accepting It

These prank contents by Ari have caused netizens to perceive the owner of the song 'Hampa' in a different light. He is now referred to as a legend turned 'alay' (slang for cringy) for the sake of YouTube views. Ari's jokes are also considered rude and have earned him the label of 'alay'.

However, Ari does not accept being called 'alay', especially when it comes to the jokes and pranks he does in his videos. When talking with Luna Maya and appearing on Luna Maya's YouTube channel, Ari spoke extensively about this matter.

1. What is the Definition of 'Alay'?

"I asked back, what is the definition of 'alay'. I was hinting at Deddy (Corbuzier). I played a record, I tagged him, 'alay' doesn't have this kind of thing," said Ari.

"Oh, you're mean," Luna replied.

"No, I am good friends with him," Ari answered. "The meaning of 'alay' is also unclear, and I am not the one who labeled it as a legend. If someone is disappointed, it's their own battle," he continued.

Ari then told a story about how his followers fought in the comments when someone mentioned that his jokes were harsh. Netizens who have been following Ari for a long time and attending his concerts defended their idol who is indeed funny and likes to joke on stage.

2. Disagree with Being Called 'Alay'

Ari also disagrees if his jokes are considered as 'alay' behavior. And he gave an example of Ozzy Osbourne, the frontman of the metal band Black Sabbath who is super fierce, but has a silly attitude in everyday life.

"But if it's about me, I don't agree with being called 'alay'. Like Mick Jagger, his jokes on stage are really extreme. What I brushed off yesterday about Ozzy Osbourne, the godfather of heavy metal, eating a bat on stage, then his solo album exploded, in his old age he made a really silly reality show that exploded. But did he disappear? No. He became the biggest music promoter in the world, creating the best metal festivals," he explained.

Ari revealed that many people think he no longer makes music because he became a YouTuber. But that's not the case, he still makes music and creates even though he has silly content on the Ari Lasso TV channel.
