Adly Fairuz Insists on Imprisoning His Mother-in-law, Mediation Attempts Failed Twice Because of This

In December 2019, represented by his legal counsel, Adly Fairuz reported Yulia Wirawati to the police. The report was related to the alleged defamation committed by his mother-in-law.

As known, Yulia shared Angbeen Rishi's complaints about the violence she experienced from Adly on social media and infotainment.

However, in her testimony, Angbeen denied this.

"Brother SA, lawyer for MAF, reported YW, who is MAF's mother-in-law, for defamation in December 2019. The police have clarified everything, including the reporter, his wife, and the accused. We have also clarified several witnesses," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Pol Yusri Yunus, when met by the media on Monday (3/5/2021).

"There are several pieces of evidence shown because there are tweets from sister YW that convey information according to the report made by his wife that she is often abused. The fact is, after clarification, MAF's wife does not admit it and never conveyed it to sister YW, which became the basis of the report," he added.

Furthermore, Commissioner Pol Yusri Yunus said that he has mediated between Adly Fairuz and Yulia Wirawati. However, after two mediation processes, there was no agreement and Adly insisted on sending his mother-in-law to prison.

"Initially, the investigator has mediated because the reported person is the mother-in-law of his wife, or the biological parent of his own wife. Mediation has been carried out with the hope that the reported person, as a mother-in-law, would not be reported. But there was no agreement. Adly insisted on continuing the case," said Yusri.

In this Ramadan month, the police hope that Adly Fairuz will open his heart. So that the issue can be resolved peacefully and Yulia Wirawati can be free from imprisonment.

"This is a small problem, but the reporter does not want to forgive, insisting on continuing the report. In this holy month of Ramadan, our hope is for both of them to become a harmonious family again. That's our hope. Because it is clear from the circulation of Pak Kapolri, for cases of defamation, restorative justice is applied first for mediation, just to reconcile," he concluded.
