Amid Controversy, Dennis Adhiswara Reveals the Meaning Behind the New Title of the Film 'KIBLAT' Changed to 'TAGHUT'

Kapanlagi.com - The film THAGHUT faced controversy because its previous title, KIBLAT, was deemed blasphemous. Negative reactions from various parties forced the production team to consider changing the title to avoid bigger issues.

However, there is a deeper reason behind the choice of 'Thaghut' as the new title for this film. Dennis Adhiswara, one of the actors in the film, explained that 'Thaghut' means something that exceeds the limits or something that is not appropriate.

In the context of the film, 'Thaghut' depicts excessive human desires to the point of being willing to worship something other than God. Therefore, Dennis mentioned that the choice of the title 'Thaghut' was indeed intentional as it shares a similar meaning with the film's main theme.

"Thaghut is exceeding the limits of something that is not appropriate, but in this film, it’s like we desire something to the point where we worship something other than God, which gives rise to greed," said Dennis Adhiswara when met at Kapanlagi Youniverse, Friday (26/7).

"Actually, in this film, maybe at the beginning there was some misunderstanding and we clarify that there is no intention to offend anything," he continued.

In addition, on the same occasion, Hana Saraswati, another player, revealed that although there were no major problems after the title was changed, this issue had become a topic of discussion on social media and sparked various reactions.

"Actually, it’s not a problem, but it turns out that some people were offended. It was blown up on social media, so we had to change it, and we agreed to avoid unwanted things, that’s why we changed the title," she stated.

Dennis then emphasized that this film conveys an important message for us to be vigilant and not to be tempted to worship what should not be worshipped.
