Ammar Zoni Requests to Attend the Hearing in Person, Denied

The continuation of the trial for the alleged drug trafficking case involving Ammar Zoni, the former husband of Irish Bella, is rolling again with the agenda of hearing responses from the panel of judges. In today's hearing, the brother of Aditya Zoni expressed his desire to be physically present in the courtroom, leaving the online space at the Nusakambangan Prison where he is currently detained, at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday (20/11/2025).

Ammar Zoni directly expressed his hope to the panel of judges to be allowed to meet face-to-face at the trial next week. He hopes to hear the preliminary ruling or final decision while being in the same room as the law enforcement officials.

"If it is allowed, can we attend the trial next week for the ruling that Your Honor will announce next week? For the preliminary ruling or final decision. We can be there, you know. Offline. In person," said Ammar Zoni to the panel of judges.

In response to the request, the Chief Judge, Dwi Elyarahma Sulistiyowati, decided to reject the actor's petition for the time being. The judge explained that the defendant's physical presence in the courtroom was not considered urgent, given that next week's agenda is only for the reading of the interim decision, and has not yet entered the realm of case evidence.

"So for next week, it is still a decision or interim decision or ruling, not yet required. We do not need your statement, nor do we need testimony from witnesses because we have not yet entered the evidence phase," Judge Dwi asserted.

Furthermore, Judge Dwi emphasized that this trial process still adheres to the applicable rules regarding the implementation of electronic hearings. He ensured that Ammar's direct presence would only be required and facilitated when the trial has entered the evidence stage, where the statements of the defendant and witnesses will be explored in more depth.

"It seems to still be with the previous ruling of the Panel of Judges. Yes. We are still using the legal basis of PERMA (Regulation of the Supreme Court), if this trial is conducted electronically," explained Judge Dwi.

Although his request has not been granted, Ammar Zoni still respects the decision. In his interaction with the Judge, the former husband of Irish Bella expressed his great hope that the Panel of Judges can provide the fairest decision for his future. However, the Judge offered an interesting perspective on the concept of justice itself.

"Yes, God willing, we just pray that Your Honor can provide true justice," said Ammar.

"Justice is relative, right? What is fair to us may not be fair to others. It may not be fair to those over there, on that side, you know. So we are just trying to provide justice as we see it, okay? That's how it is," Judge Dwi responded.

As information, this case originated from the indictment of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) which stated that Ammar Zoni was involved in alleged drug trafficking. The JPU revealed that Ammar received 100 grams of methamphetamine from someone named Andre (DPO) in December 2024.

From that amount, 50 grams were handed over to the defendant Muhammad Rivaldi to be distributed within the detention center. As a result of his actions, Ammar was charged with multiple offenses, including Article 114 Paragraph (2) regarding the sale and purchase of narcotics with severe penalties.
