Ammar Zoni now has to serve a seven-year prison sentence at Nusakambangan Prison. Although the place brings deep trauma, the actor has apparently prepared himself mentally before the transfer process was carried out by the authorities.
Jon Mathias, as his attorney, had previously provided education to Ammar before his transfer. He reminded Ammar that adhering to procedures is the best way for his behavior assessment in the prison to remain good for the sake of his future.
"On Wednesday, we met Ammar, and we had already educated him. There, we said, 'If Mar, if you do not comply with the rules, then automatically how will the assessment be? What about your commitment?' In the end, he said, 'Well, I have been in Lapas NK before, Uncle. It's okay,' he said," Jon Mathias said when met in the Benhil area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (13/5/2026).
"In fact, he asked, 'When do I have to go there?' Because he said he had also prepared his belongings to be entrusted to someone, he said. That's how it is. So, there is no doubt in Amar's heart to return because why? Because his return is also for his own interest," Jon Mathias said.
For Ammar, returning to Nusakambangan is a way to test his security status. If he behaves cooperatively, there is a chance that his high-risk status could be downgraded to medium, allowing him to obtain better rights.
"If not, this high-risk status will still be attached to him. Now, to test that, it needs to be assessed. Of course, he has to return first," Jon added.
Aditya Zoni, the younger brother, confirmed that his brother is now in a state of resignation. Although there is an overwhelming fear due to the thought of conditions in Nusakambangan, Ammar chooses to follow all the applicable rules.
"Yes, um, he has resigned himself, it can be seen since yesterday, but he still has some fear. Because he always tells me, he is still traumatized every time he is taken to Nusakambangan because he is just a user, you know. And I also believe, I trust that Bang Amar is just a user, not a dealer," concluded Aditya Zoni.
