Ammar Zoni Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison and a Fine of Rp 1 Billion

The fate of former husband Ammar Zoni was finally decided in a trial related to allegations of drug trafficking. The panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court officially handed down a heavy sentence to Ammar Zoni during the session held on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Ammar Zoni was found guilty and sentenced to seven years in prison. Not only a physical sentence, but Ammar is also required to pay a substantial fine for his involvement in the case.

"The defendant VI Muhamad Amar Akbar alias Amar Zoni is therefore sentenced to imprisonment for 7 (seven) years and a fine of Rp1 billion that must be paid within 1 month and may be extended for a maximum of 1 month from the date the decision has permanent legal force," said the judge at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday (04/23/2026).

The sentence received by Ammar Zoni is known to be much heavier compared to the five other defendants in the same case. Other defendants such as Asep bin Sarkin and Ade Candra Maulana received different sentences although they were still subjected to similar fines by the panel of judges.

The sentences for the other defendants were also detailed by the judge in the trial. One of them is the second defendant who received a fiveyear prison sentence.

The panel of judges revealed that the aggravating reasons for the sentence of Ammar Zoni and his associates were because they stubbornly committed drug offenses while still serving their detention period. This act is considered not to set a good example for society.

The judge also emphasized that the actions of the defendants have very broad negative impacts, especially on the future sustainability of the younger generation in Indonesia. "The actions of the defendants can harm and have effects on the younger generation. The defendants committed crimes while serving their sentences. The defendants were not honest in court, the defendants are currently serving their sentences," explained the judge.

However, there are mitigating factors for the defendants' sentences. The judge considered the polite attitude and remorse shown by Ammar Zoni and others during the trial process as a separate consideration for them to improve themselves in the future.

The judge hopes that these young defendants can take valuable lessons from the punishment given. "The defendants behaved politely, which facilitated the trial process, the defendants expressed regret and promised not to repeat their actions, the defendants are still young and are expected to have the opportunity to become better," he said.
