First, Afan stated that self-confidence is the key to any stage appearance or performance in front of many people.

"First and foremost, self-confidence or being confident is the most important. I also learned from my experience during competitions," said Afan on one occasion.

In addition, Afan mentioned that mental strength is also an important factor in achieving maximum performance in every opportunity given.

"You all have to prepare your mental strength," continued the 17-year-old teenager whose full name is Ahmad Afan Khadafy.

"Basically, if you are already confident and mentally prepared, no matter how high the pitch is, or whatever it is, you will definitely reach it, and you will definitely be brave. Keep the spirit, guys!" said Afan.

On another occasion, Afan showed strong mental resilience when he received negative comments calling him a 'proxy participant' in DA5. Coincidentally, Afan is the son of the dangdut singer Aan KDI.

Afan actually considers the criticism as motivation for his struggle. "It hurts a bit, but it's okay, when I see hate comments, I actually feel happy because it motivates me," he remarked.
