Ammar Zoni Stressed Hearing Issues About Being Transferred to Nusakambangan, Legal Counsel Prepares This Step

Unpleasant news has once again approached actor Ammar Zoni, who is currently imprisoned related to a case of alleged drug trafficking within the detention center. There are strong rumors stating that the former husband of Irish Bella will soon be transferred to the Correctional Institution (Lapas) Nusakambangan, Central Java.

Ammar's legal counsel, John Mathias, revealed that they are conducting a routine visit while discussing the truth of the rumor. John Mathias explained the purpose of their visit today to the detention center to prepare for the trial and to calm his client.

Ammar Zoni is said to feel very burdened by the rumors regarding his transfer to the super-secured prison.

"We are visiting Ammar, preparing for the trial on the 9th," said John Mathias at Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, Thursday (February 5, 2026).

The meeting also served as a platform for Ammar to express his inner turmoil. John emphasized that Ammar's current legal status has not yet become final and binding, thus the issue of transfer is considered very premature and psychologically disturbing for his client.

"What was discussed was the preparation for the hearing on the 9th, the presence of expert witnesses. There are four expert witnesses: a narcotics expert, then an investigation management expert, then a prison management expert, and then a psychiatrist expert. That is what was talked about with Ammar. Secondly, of course, we are accommodating his complaints about the issues that there are rumors of a transfer," he said.

"Well, we will also submit an objection to the Director General of Corrections if we are to be transferred, because it must be understood that the presumption of innocence must be upheld. Our law is based on the presumption of innocence. So, before there is a decision, there shouldn't be any rumors," added John Mathias.

Ammar Zoni's concerns are not without reason as the issue directly impacts his mental condition while in detention. John Mathias acknowledged that this unconfirmed news has become a burden for his client, who is focused on facing his legal case.

"Yes, this issue is reported by the media rather than us. Yes, this issue is also causing distress for Ammar himself," said John.

As a concrete step, the legal team will visit the Directorate General of Corrections to request a written clarification. They want to ensure that the information is officially confirmed so that there is no ambiguity that could harm Ammar Zoni.

"Yes, we are going to come there, right? So we are also formally requesting that information in writing," asserted John Mathias.

John added that the objection request was based on applicable legal regulations. He hopes that the legal process will proceed according to procedure without any actions that seem rushed before a final verdict is reached.

"Yes, Ammar's objection request was transferred to Nusakambangan before there is a decision that has permanent legal force or inkracht," concluded John Mathias.
