Kapanlagi.com - The latest horror film titled ANAK KUNTI officially launched its poster and trailer on December 20, 2024. This launch was conducted through the official social media of the film, namely Instagram and TikTok. The film tells the story of a young girl named Sarah (Gisellma Firmansyah) as she uncovers the mysterious origins of her family in the village of Wonoenggal.

Directed by Bambang Drias and written by Baskoro Adi, ANAK KUNTI becomes an ambitious project involving collaboration between Drias Film Production and the digital platform KipasKipas. KipasKipas CEO, Gito Huang, who also serves as the executive producer, expressed his optimism about the film's final result.

“This is my first collaboration as an executive producer of a film, and I am satisfied and quite optimistic about the outcome,” he stated at Plaza Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday (20/12/2024).

Not only Gito Huang, singer and actress Aura Kasih also makes her debut as an executive producer in this 94-minute film. Additionally, the production of this film is also supported by Avesina Soebli, Wendy Christian, Jonathan HM, as well as Dolby Atmos audio technology to provide an optimal viewing experience.

1.

Set in the 1990s, this film adapts one of the most popular ghost legends in Indonesia, the kuntilanak. The story begins when a mother dies during childbirth of twins amid chaos. Years later, one of the surviving children, Sarah, returns to the village to uncover the truth about her family. However, her presence triggers terror from the kuntilanak, believed to be the incarnation of her mother.

Nita Gunawan, who plays the character Wati alias Kuntilanak, becomes the center of attention due to her terrifying yet mesmerizing transformation. Director Bambang Drias describes Nita as the perfect choice.

"Nita has a very characterful face, beautiful as the village flower, but can also be frightening. This fits the needs of the Kuntilanak character in this film," he explained.

Nita admitted to facing a significant challenge during filming, especially when portraying the childbirth scene. "I have never been pregnant, so I had to learn how to give birth and the correct breathing techniques," she revealed.

2. Iwa K Bleeding

The filming process of this movie was temporarily halted due to an unexpected incident. Actor Iwa K, who stars in this film, sustained a real injury during shooting.

"This is the first time I worked until I was bleeding, and it’s not a metaphor. It was really bleeding," said Iwa K at a press conference in Jakarta.

3. Abun Sungkar on Shooting Experience in This Film

Abun Sungkar, who plays a co-intern doctor named Dimas, also shared his experiences during filming. He conducted research by asking his co-intern friends about how to adapt to village life.

“I learned a lot from my friends who are interns, but in this film, the villagers still treated me coldly,” he said, adding that he also performed the call to prayer with his original voice.

4. Gisellma Shooting in the Midst of Exams

The other main actor, Gisellma Firmansyah, faces a different challenge. She must balance a busy shooting schedule with her university exams.

"Sometimes I have to go back to Jakarta for exams, and some are even done online," said Gisellma. Nevertheless, she remains fully committed to portraying Sarah.

5. Wavi's Experience with the Javanese Language

The film ANAK KUNTI also features dialogue in Javanese, which presents a unique challenge for the actors, including Gisellma and Wavi Zihan. Wavi, who plays Azizah, Sarah's friend, admitted to learning a lot from senior actors like Jajang C Noer and Ruth Marini.

"My character develops along with the story, and I am grateful to receive a lot of feedback from the seniors," said Wavi.

6. Airing Next Year

This film is scheduled to be released simultaneously on February 20, 2025, in seven countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The collaboration with distributor ST Media and Sunrise Entertainment is expected to help ANAK KUNTI reach a wider audience, even to other countries in the future.
