Anrez Adelio and Ersya Aurel Revive the Characters Boy & Reva in 'Anak Jalanan A New Beginning'

Anrez Adelio will portray the character Boy, who has a complicated love story with Reva (Ersya Aurel). Anrez explains that the romance presented in Anak Jalanan A New Beginning is not like a typical love story,

"The romance is different, it's funny, like Tom & Jerry. On one hand, they're annoyed with each other, but on the other hand, they keep meeting, so it's really exciting. Things that are relatable like this will resonate with the audience, hopefully they'll like it. It could be like, 'Oh, this is so similar to my crush, at first annoyed but keep meeting', something like that," said Anrez Adelio (12/12/21).

 

1. No More Awkwardness

Furthermore, during the filming of romantic scenes, there is no longer any awkwardness between Anrez and Ersya. Both of them admitted that they have clicked and are confident in maximizing the romance between Boy & Reva.

"Coincidentally, Anrez and I have worked together before. Although it was brief, it helped with the chemistry we have now because we already know each other. So we already know how to build chemistry, how to have smooth conversations. So it just flowed naturally, especially when playing Boy and Reva, it wasn't too difficult for me. He's great to discuss with," explained Ersya Aurel (12/12/21).

 

2. The Pressure Felt by the New Reva

Portraying characters who receive extraordinary love from the Indonesian community, Anrez and Ersya do not deny the existence of pressure. However, both Anrez and Ersya admit that they do not want to be overwhelmed and instead want to provide a unique watching experience in Anak Jalanan A New Beginning.

"It's definitely nerve-wracking, this is a huge responsibility to portray the character of Reva. There's also happiness because this is an opportunity, because Anak Jalanan has a lot of fans. So in my opinion, this is also a challenge for me to figure out how I can portray Reva in my own version. And my goal is not to compete, I don't want to compete with the previous Reva. She's my friend too. In essence, I want to find a way to make the audience who miss Reva so much finally able to watch Reva again, in a new version. Reva in Ersya's version," said Ersya.

 

3. The Iconic Characters Boy and Reva

Anrez & Ersya then revealed some details about the characters they portray. It cannot be denied that they found some similarities with the original traits of these characters.

"In general, Boy is a cool guy who speaks less but acts more. As for me, my real personality is cheerful, I enjoy chatting here and there, and I love learning new things. But both Boy and I share a love for motorcycles and being active, we can't sit still," explained Anrez.

Ersya Aurel, who plays Reva, agreed with this. "Reva can be tomboyish, but also feminine. Her character at home can be very spoiled, like daddy's little princess. But when she's outside, when Reva has to face Boy, she's not afraid to express her opinions and can be quite assertive. I really enjoy playing a character like this," said Ersya.
