Apart from Jerinx SID, these Musicians Also Reject the Music Bill

The proposed Music Bill by Anang Hermansyah suddenly garnered both support and opposition among Indonesian musicians. It is considered burdensome for artists, and many openly express their dislike for the bill.

Recently, Jerinx SID received attention due to his dispute with Ashanty on Instagram. But it turns out that Jerinx is not the only one who disagrees with the bill. The following musicians also created hashtags to protest against the Music Bill.

Audy Item uploaded one quote from Harold Arlen as a form of protest. "Music doesn't argue, discuss, or quarrel.. It just breathes the air of FREEDOM" which means, music doesn't need to be debated and discussed because music is an expression of freedom.

Andy Rif also firmly rejects the draft of the Music Bill. "Already cool, no need to be disturbed... #rejectmusicbill," writes Andy Rif.

"Efek Rumah Kaca along with hundreds of music practitioners from several cities in Indonesia firmly #RejectMusicBill because it has the potential to repress musicians. Please read our statement on behalf of the National Coalition Rejecting the Music Bill. Due to the limitation of the number of images in 1 post, here are 97 names out of 267 music practitioners who have expressed their support so far. We are waiting for the support of other music practitioners to reject this Music Bill."

"How about it, oh my, it feels like being hit by a truck. Deliberation and consensus, let's go. I believe that people in the art world are individuals who have developed a strong sense of sympathy and empathy. Full of love, affection, and peace, so let's support these artists who indirectly beautify this world. #rejectmusicsupervision."

"If some articles in this MUSIC SUPERVISION BILL remain the same, I will definitely reject it. Let me and my friends know first if you want to make a draft, hehehe, because I am a singer and musician. I swear."

"Even though it hasn't been approved and is still a proposal, it requires careful consideration from various parties. #rejectmusicsupervision because I tried to study again and listen to its sound through the guitar body for the competency test preparation, but it didn't work."

"What needs to be considered is how to make artists and musicians in Indonesia prosperous, their rights reach those who are entitled. The point is to make it easier, not to complicate things. Hopefully, with this, the bill will be changed and indeed it must be changed. #ruupermusikan #tolakruupermusikan #tolakRUUpermusikan."

Not to be left behind, Isyana's brother, who is also a former vocalist of Banda Neira, also expressed his opinion. According to him, the draft is not valid because it is sourced from a blogspot site. "In the past few days, together with musician friends and music practitioners, we formed the National Coalition Rejecting the Music Bill. Together, we tried to examine the articles in this Music Bill. After reading the existing articles, we see this bill as an attempt to limit the development of independent music and music activities that are born, grow, and live in society, and try to standardize and monopolize the development of music in Indonesia."
