Arswendo Atmowiloto's Farewell Mass, Tearfully Attended by Family - Friends

Arswendo Asmowiloto passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019. The author of the story Keluarga Cemara left at the age of 70, after battling prostate cancer. A mass was held to accompany the departure of the legend.

A requiem mass for the release of the body was held at St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Tangerang on Saturday (20/7).

Arswendo suffered from prostate cancer for approximately one year. He is survived by his wife Agnes Sri Hartini and three children.

Arswendo passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 around 17.30 WIB. "His passing was peaceful, good, with a smile and now he's no longer in pain." said Caecilia Tiara, the late's child.

The farewell mass was attended by family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased. The soundtrack of 'Keluarga Cemara' was also sung in this emotional moment.

Arswendo departed peacefully, even the family was not given any signs or premonitions. The family and friends considered Arswendo's departure as the path that God has determined.

A number of friends of the late also attended to pay their last respects. One of them is Slamet Rahardjo and Butet Kertarajasa, Arswendo is remembered as a cultural figure, writer, and legendary journalist of Indonesia.
