Ashanty Learns Batik in Madura, Admiring Handmade Works of the Locals

When visiting Madura recently, Ashanty not only became a speaker at one of the campuses there. Together with Anang Hermansyah and their two children, Arsy and Arsya, Ashanty also learned to make batik from a local artisan.

Ashanty admitted to being amazed by the Madura batik, which is not only rich in colors but also in the process of its creation. She then learned to make batik herself there.

Ashanty learned to make batik during her recent visit to Madura. She learned directly from local artisans who have been creating the traditional Madura batik for years.

Upon arriving at the location, Ashanty was greeted with beautiful traditional Madura batik. "This process takes 1.5 years, dear," said the artisan while draping the batik cloth around Ashanty's neck.

Ashanty looked at several collections of batik from the gallery she visited, then learned to make batik alongside the employees there. Carefully, Ashanty applied the batik wax onto the fabric she was holding.

Arsy Hermansyah also joined in the enthusiasm to learn batik. Accompanied by the artisans, Arsy skillfully created batik with both hands.

"Learning to make batik directly in Madura!I’m so happy to be invited to the batik gallery @jokotolecollection owned by Mrs. Uswatun @uuswira_jc. Madura batik has bold colors, unique motifs, and everything is handmade!Some processes take 6 months, a year, or even up to 1.5 years!" wrote Ashanty on her Instagram page.
