Attending the Funeral of Vanessa Angel & Husband, Roy Suryo Doubts Sleepy Driver

On that occasion, Roy admitted to doubting whether the accident experienced by Vanessa and her husband was due to the driver, Tubagus Joddy, falling asleep. "If it's sleepiness, the speed wouldn't be this high. It tends to be slow when sleepy," said Roy Suryo as quoted by Matamata.com, Friday (5/11/2021) at Taman Makam Islam Malaka in South Jakarta.

Therefore, Roy suspects two possible causes of the accident that took the lives of Vanessa and Bibi. First, the driver had a blank moment due to fatigue, or second, the driver lost concentration because of playing with a mobile phone.

"So most likely he had a moment of fatigue, blanking out and microsleeping, or he was holding a phone and then the accident happened," he said. Roy asked the police to check Joddy's phone to see when the phone was last used.

2. Not Accusing

"Who knows at the time of the incident, who knows, I'm not accusing, he was taking a video. Because 44 minutes earlier, he was taking a video and it was uploaded on Instastory but has been deleted," said Roy. He is confident that the police can retrieve the phone's usage history.

He also added that in a single accident, there must be a suspect, but he fully leaves it to the police to determine that. On Thursday (11/4/2021), Vanessa Angel and her husband Bibi Ardiansyah became victims of a fatal accident on the Jombang-Mojokerto Toll Road. They were buried the next day at the Malaka Islamic Cemetery, Pesanggrahan.
