Kapanlagi.com - Recently, Aris Baim Wong revealed facts about a syndicate of scammers using his name. According to Baim, this scam syndicate is extensive and complex, like a village of scammers.
Based on information from the police, Baim stated that the main source of this scam syndicate is in Tanjung Balai, North Sumatra.
"It turns out the source is there in Tanjung Balai, there are three syndicates that got caught," said Baim in an interview quoted from YouTube Kaesang Pangarep.
"It's like their village, a pickpocket village. (I don't know the exact location) but the police are in Tanjung Balai," he continued.
This fraud syndicate uses the popular giveaway modus on social media, by creating a new Facebook account and claiming to have won a giveaway from Baim Wong.
The perpetrators then exploit this giveaway program to deceive victims, making them believe that they will receive a prize from Baim Wong.
The police have successfully arrested several perpetrators of this fraud, including four individuals who were apprehended in Tanjung Balai. They used a receipt printing machine to convince victims that Baim Wong was indeed giving away prizes.
Victims were then asked to answer questions about Baim Wong's life and family name, and after successfully answering, they were asked to pay an administrative fee ranging from Rp 500 thousand to Rp 5 million.
Baim Wong himself has reported this fraud case to the police several times and has met with the perpetrators at the Tanjung Balai Police Department. He emphasized that he will no longer hold giveaways because this fraud has already caused too many victims.
This fraud syndicate has caused material losses. The police have named six suspects in the case under the ITE Law, with a potential sentence of up to six years in prison.
Baim Wong hopes that with this arrest, the fraud syndicate can be dismantled and the public can be more vigilant against this type of fraud.
