Becoming Childfree, Living Without Children as Chosen by Several Indonesian Artists Including Stephanie Poetri and Cinta Laura

In fact, he has no problem not getting married but raising an adopted child.

Historically, the childfree movement was first voiced in the United States through the National Organization for NonParents (NON) established in 1972, with the aim of challenging the stigma of being 'selfish' and 'unnatural' towards those who do not have descendants.

NON rejects the notion that everyone must have children. They want to change the societal view that having children is not an obligation, but a legitimate personal choice. According to them, people who choose to be childfree can have more leisure time, financial freedom, and still contribute to society without having to be parents.

The decision of childfree celebrities is not without scrutiny from netizens. Rina Nose and Cinta Laura generally receive support for their bravery, but Gita Savitri faced a wave of backlash for being perceived as belittling parents in her statements about anti-natural aging due to being childfree.

Many netizens consider this debate to be reasonable, as it touches on family values and social norms in Indonesia, which are still very pro-children. However, there are also many who respect individual rights to determine their own lives.
