Being a Fan Since Elementary School, Hito Caesar Once Made Speechless by Glenn Fredly in an Elevator

In his post on Thursday (4/9/2020), Hito shared his shocked feeling upon hearing the news of Glenn's passing. He had hoped it was a hoax.

"It feels like I want to consider this a hoax! I am deeply saddened when I heard the news that my idol is called by God today. Maybe many will say I'm overreacting, pretending to know, or whatever nonsense, it's up to them! The fact is, he doesn't even know who I am or ever met me because in fact, I am just a big fan through his works," wrote Hito.

1. Beginning of Being a Fan

Next, Hito tells the story of how he initially became a fan of Glenn. He admits that every day he always sings the hit songs of the late Glenn.

"Only once, the first song by Bung Glenn that I heard was in 4th grade in my cousin's car, and since then until now I have been a big fan of him. There is not a single day without humming his songs, it's like a reflex because I truly love his works. Going anywhere in a car or karaoke, there must be his love songs Kasih Putih, Terserah, Sedih Tak Berujung, Kisah Yang Salah, Januari, Akhir Cerita Cinta, Dari Pulau dan Benua, Allah Sumber Kuatku, Cukup Sudah, Terang, Kau, Salam Bagi Sahabat, Karena Cinta, Kembali ke Awal, Kisah Romantis and You Are My Everything (2 songs that must be played at my wedding with Felicya Angelista in the future) and many more including Bung's spiritual songs."

2. Speechless Meeting Glenn

Being a big fan of Glenn, Hito once went out of his way to attend his concert. He then remembered the moment when he could get close and finally took a photo with his idol.

"I remember back in college, I went out of my way to watch him when he performed at the church with @joshkalesaran, and after that, it turned out that we took the same elevator with Bung Glenn. I was just stunned, really stunned because I didn't expect to be in the same elevator with my idol. I couldn't even ask for a photo or a handshake. I was that overwhelmed! When he left and said, 'Let's go first, God Bless', only then I could say reflexively, 'God Bless You Ka'."

3. Hito's Prayer for Glenn

Lastly, Hito conveyed his prayer for the late Glenn, whom he referred to as a legend. He also wished for God's protection over Glenn's family.

"You are a very humble person, a truly Legend! There won't be the next Glenn Fredly for me, there will always be only one Glenn Fredly! And now that name is singing and praising in heaven! FATHER, always guard and bless his family, wife, and children. Thank you for your works, thank you for reminding us to 'be a light in the darkness'. Indonesia has lost its best musician today, but today Heaven welcomes a worshipper with its angelic voice. You have given us the best songs. Now sing for Him, Bung."
