Being a Strict Mother-in-law in 'BUKU HARIAN SEORANG ISTRI', Dian Nitami Reveals the Importance of Antagonistic Characters

Kapanlagi.com - In the soap opera BUKU HARIAN SEORANG ISTRI (BHSI), Dian Nitami plays the role of Farah Buwana, who is the mother of Dewa Buwana (Cinta Brian) and the mother-in-law of Nana (Zoe Jackson). In an interview with the KapanLagi.com team, Dian explained about her character.

"The soap opera BUKU HARIAN SEORANG ISTRI is indeed about family conflicts. In this, I play the role of Farah Buwana, the mother of the main character Dewa Buwana, the mother-in-law of Nana Buwana," said Dian Nitami when met on the set of BHSI on Thursday (19/8).

Farah Buwana is indeed a fierce and strict character. Especially towards her daughter-in-law Nana.

"Well, usually people always say, why is Dian's role so fierce. Well, the story of Farah Buwana is really fierce," continued Dian.

Dian then explained the importance of the antagonist's role in a story. She also revealed that she felt lucky to still be able to portray characters like Farah Buwana.

"So why do I want to be an antagonist? Because in every story, there must be an antagonist and a protagonist. If everyone doesn't want to be an antagonist, then what would the story be like? It's not a documentary, right?" Dian explained.

"That's why I'm really happy with my role here. Because here, I step out of my everyday self. I'm here to play a role, not to bring myself. And for me, in the art of acting, getting a role that is different from my everyday self feels like a challenge," she continued.

"And at my age now, to have such a challenge, it is a blessing. An opportunity that may not come every time," Dian concluded.
