Being Cak Nun's Child & Learning Religion Since Childhood, Noe Letto Admits to Recently Embracing Islam

Sabrang Mowo Damar Panuluh, also known as Noe Letto, apparently has a unique story in his spiritual journey. Many people would assume that Noe, who is the son of renowned preacher Emha Ainun Nadjib alias Cak Nun, was born as a Muslim.

However, Noe made a surprising statement in a recent episode on Daniel Mananta Network's YouTube channel.

Noe mentioned that he had a revelation in his spiritual journey. He found a different definition of bearing witness to the existence of God.

"I became a Muslim not long ago. I used to think that Islam taught us to believe in God and Prophet Muhammad, but when I studied, it turned out not to be like that. Because the Shahada declares that I bear witness to the existence of God," said Noe, quoted from YouTube Daniel Mananta Network on Thursday (4/1/2024).

Noe mentioned that he only recently learned about the knowledge related to bearing witness and believing in the existence of God. That's why he admitted that he embraced Islam not long ago.

"I am not a Muslim if I do not bear witness to the existence of God. When I studied, I only understood that. Those two words have different meanings, believing does not necessarily prove, but bearing witness already has evidence," he continued.

Noe Letto then emphasized that he had actually recited the Shahada since he was a child, but he was not fully practicing Islam because he did not understand the meaning of the statement.

"Even if I had recited the Shahada when I was in elementary school, I did not understand embracing Islam because I had not testified. I feel like I am a Muslim because of my understanding and the translation in Indonesian language, about testifying and believing," he explained.

Noe's spiritual journey is said to be long and winding. Previously, Noe admitted to being an atheist while studying in Canada. He conveyed this through Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube channel back in 2023.

After deepening his understanding of the religion, Noe finally 'returned' to recite the Shahada and embrace Islam, even though he was actually born a Muslim and was the child of a religious leader.
