Kapanlagi.com - Talented young actor Bima Azriel greets his fans again through his leading role as Kay in the film Nobody Loves Kay. Bima, who has started his acting career at a young age, admits to feeling an extraordinary emotional connection with the character he plays. The dynamics of a teenager's life chasing big dreams to become a pro e-sports player are surprisingly very relevant to his own life.
Bima Azriel reveals that his journey in the film industry has not always been smooth and certain. There were times when he felt tired because he had to split his time between work and the school life he should be enjoying. This created an inner restlessness that continuously overshadowed his growth as a young actor.
"Honestly, I really relate to Kay's character. It's true that I started in the film world from a young age, just like Rey and Joshia," said Bima Azriel when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (11/05/2026).
Bima chooses to act wisely and complete what he has started since childhood. For him, complaining along the way is not a mature choice considering the many sacrifices that have been made. He is aware that every career choice, including becoming a pro player like Kay, certainly has heavy consequences that must be faced.
The dynamics among the players is also an interesting aspect, especially the friendship between Bima, Rey Bong, and Joshia Frederico. Rey Bong, who plays Ido, mentioned that this project serves as a platform for them to curb their egos. They work hard to ensure that no one feels more prominent in front of the camera for the sake of the story's integrity.
"I have my own ego, Bima does too, as does Joshia, and Raka as the director. But you know, the magic or uniqueness of this project is that we can overcome our individual egos," said Rey Bong.
In addition to young actors, rapper Basboy also makes his acting debut as the character Tomo in this film directed by Bernardus Raka. Basboy, who usually appears confidently on stage, admits he had to learn many technical aspects of the acting world. He feels challenged to portray a character that is very different from his original personality as a musician.
"Basboy comes to the set to work not as Basboy, but as Tomo. But how to bring the feelings that Basboy has experienced into Tomo," said Basboy.
This film is hoped to provide a new perspective for parents in viewing their children's hobbies, especially those who enjoy gaming. Bima Azriel emphasizes that family support is crucial for the mental health of children pursuing their dreams. Nobody Loves Kay is not just a film about gaming, but about the courage to take responsibility for life choices.
This film follows the journey of Kay (Bima Azriel), an ambitious high school student aiming to become a pro player. While struggling in the Mobile Legends competition, Kay faces family conflict due to his declining school grades. He strives to improve his grades with the help of Amanda (Aurora Ribero) while chasing
his dream, even though this ambition strains his relationship with his best friend, Ido (Rey Bong). The film Nobody Loves Kay is scheduled to be released in Indonesian cinemas on June 4, 2026.
The 20-year-old teenager reminisces about his middle school days as the toughest phase in his career journey. At that time, he felt envious seeing his peers play freely without the burden of shooting. Bima reached his lowest point and felt confused about whether the path he is currently on is truly his own desire.
"At that point, I was in a phase of questioning my dream like, 'Is this really the dream I'm chasing or did I just jump in here?'" explained
Bima Azriel.
