Cak Imin Proud Al Ghazali Stays True to Javanese Traditions, Can Be a Role Model for the Younger Generation

Not only family and close relatives but also several important figures were present to witness the sacred ceremony. One of them was the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Muhaimin Iskandar, commonly known as Cak Imin.

Cak Imin expressed his pride in Al Ghazali for continuing to uphold ancestral traditions amidst the modern life he leads.

"Alhamdulillah, an artist like Al Ghazali who is cosmopolitan still roots himself in Javanese traditions," said Cak Imin when met in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta, on Saturday (14/6/2025).

1. Strong Javanese Tradition

Cak Imin admitted to being very impressed with Al Ghazali's awareness of undergoing the entire series of Javanese customs in a solemn manner. According to him, Al not only followed the tradition as a formality but also internalized the spiritual values contained within it.

"He then deeply appreciated the atmosphere with Javanese traditions that are very rich in Islamic spirituality," he stated.

2. Role Model for the Young Generation

For Cak Imin, Al Ghazali's choice to uphold the cultural and religious values inherited from his parents is something that should be emulated by the younger generation today. He believes Al's attitude aligns with the important message from his father, Ahmad Dhani.

"Where his father's message to his children is to never leave religion, Javanese Islam, and the original Javanese that develops here," he said.

The tradition that Al Ghazali undergoes, according to Cak Imin, is not just a ritual but also a spiritual journey that shapes character. He mentioned that each stage in the customary process has extraordinary noble values.

"This tradition, step by step, is truly extraordinary," he said.

3. Love for Tradition

Furthermore, Cak Imin admires that everything Al Ghazali does comes from personal motivation, not coercion. Al carries out all these processes with a deep love for the cultural traditions that have long been rooted in his family.

"Al's awareness and his own will and love for Javanese cultural traditions," said Cak Imin.

In Cak Imin's view, Al Ghazali can now serve as an example for many young Indonesians. Although living as a public figure with a cosmopolitan lifestyle, Al remains firmly rooted in his cultural heritage.

"He can be a role model even though he is cosmopolitan and in a developing world, but still upholds tradition," praised Cak Imin.

4. Unite Family and Guests

During the traditional ceremony, Cak Imin witnessed the sacred atmosphere full of meaning. The ritual of sungkeman, collective prayers, and the siraman were conducted solemnly, reflecting the cultural strength that unites all family members and guests present.

"It started with sungkeman, prayers, then the tradition of blessing the opening event. This Javanese tradition is extraordinary in uniting everyone," he said.

In Cak Imin's eyes, Al Ghazali shone brightly during the ceremony. The aura of happiness and sincerity in embracing tradition was evident on the face of Maia Estianty's eldest son.

"And most importantly, Al shines," concluded Cak Imin.
