Can't Sleep Peacefully, Reza Rahadian Delivers Speech During the Demo to Guard the Constitutional Court's Decision

Reza's presence at the event drew public attention because he rarely gets involved in political activities.

Reza admitted feeling anxious seeing the heated political situation ahead of the 2024 Regional Elections, which led him to decide to take to the streets. In his speech, Reza conveyed the reasons for his presence among the crowd.

"I am here today because, simply put, I tend to be cautious in taking a stance, I have never wanted to participate in political contests, I have never interfered in election matters or aligned myself with any faction, that is something I avoid the most," said Reza Rahadian.

1. Reza Cannot Stay Silent

Reza also added that all this time he has preferred the world of art as a medium to express his heartfelt concerns and social criticism. However, the current situation has made it impossible for Reza to remain silent any longer.

"I have always made the world of art my platform to express my heartfelt concerns and social criticism, but today I can no longer stay silent, I cannot sleep peacefully at home," he said.

"After the faces that were previously shattered and today we all have received a decision that we highly respect from the Constitutional Court, there are still attempts to be robbed, there are still attempts to be hindered," he continued.

2. Reza Writes a Statement

Reza also revealed that last night he had written a statement regarding this situation.

"Last night I wrote that if the institution has acted to restore its mobility as a constitution, then today we are faced with the reality that this is being annulled by an institution that claims to be our representatives today. So who are you representing in this?", he said.

3. Anxiety about the Condition of Democracy

The actor known from the film HABIBIE & AINUN also emphasized that his presence in the action was not to represent any interests, but rather as an ordinary citizen who is anxious about the current state of democracy.

"Friends, today I hope the energy we have can remain orderly, we can continue to uphold our democracy because I do not represent any interests, I have no personal interests, I am not participating in any political activities," he stated.

In addition to Reza Rahadian, a number of prominent artists also attended the demonstration to support the Constitutional Court's decision (MK) in front of the DPR/MPR RI building.
