Chronology of Glenn Fredly's Meningitis Illness, Entered the Hospital on Music Day - Enduring Headaches While Singing

1. Entering the Hospital on Music Day

Not many people know that Glenn Fredly was admitted to the hospital in early March. Specifically on National Music Day, March 9, 2020. Glenn began to feel sick and was treated for several days.

This was revealed by Wendi Putranto, the manager of Seringai, who was contacted by the media via text message. "Yes, he was admitted to the hospital for a week at that time. But he has been discharged from the hospital, now he's just at home. It was during music day and a week after that," said Wendi.

2. Declared Healthy for a While

After a week of being treated in the hospital, Glenn's condition improved. This was revealed by Uchie, Glenn Fredly's younger sister, who met him shortly after the singer of the song 'Sedih Tak Berujung' passed away.

Uchie revealed that her brother had been diagnosed as healthy after leaving the hospital in early March. But then Glenn started to feel unwell again but had not decided to go to the hospital.

"His condition did drop, especially in the last few days. It was only recently, and the drop was in the last week. He did go out and was healthy, even on Ayu's birthday yesterday, they were together and everything was fine," said Uchie, on Wednesday (8/4).

3. Singing Despite Having a Headache

Despite his poor health condition, Glenn Fredly continued his social activities. One of them was participating in a charity event organized by Najwa Shihab.

The concert titled #dirumahaja was recorded by Glenn while experiencing a severe headache. Najwa Shihab only found out about this when Glenn had passed away and shared the memory on Instagram.

"Beloved Glenn Fredly.

My friend, Glenn Fredly passed away tonight. We last contacted each other last week. I asked him to record this video and invited him to join the charity music concert #dirumahaja.

Later on, I found out that when singing and making this video, Brother Glenn was enduring an extraordinary headache. But he was someone who never wanted to disappoint others. This video is his last performance before passing away. Thank you, brother. We will talk about you again later. Because stories about the greatness of your heart are too precious not to be shared. 4. Admitted to Hospital Again

However, shortly after making a video with Najwa and other musicians, Glenn dropped again. On Monday, (6/4), he was admitted to Setia Mitra Hospital, Fatmawati, Jakarta.

"Admitted to the hospital on Monday, still in a regular room," said Glenn's younger sister, Uchie.

5. Admitted to ICU Due to Breathing Problems

However, after two days of treatment, Glenn's condition continued to deteriorate and on Wednesday, (8/4) morning, he was admitted to the ICU. His breathing was disturbed and he had to be placed in intensive care.

"Then this morning he dropped and was admitted to the ICU. His breathing was disturbed and eventually, at 18:47 WIB, our brother, Ayu's husband, Gewa's father, peacefully rested and was called back to the arms of the Father in heaven," said Uchie.

6. Glenn Has Fought

According to his sibling, Glenn has fought against the illness in his body. However, his struggle has now come to an end, and the family has accepted the departure of the singer.

"His struggle is over, he has fought, and it is true that there were complications in his head, which were said to be meningitis. We just want to do our best for our brother (Glenn)," she explained.

7. Hiding the Pain from the Family

Not only were the fans shocked, but the family was also equally shocked by Glenn's sudden departure. No one expected that Glenn, who had appeared healthy all this time, would suddenly return to the presence of God.

"Indeed, our brother (Glenn) never wanted to admit that he was sick, but in the end, we prayed together, and we all surrendered. Everything happened so quickly," Uci said.

8. Passed Away

Shortly after entering the ICU, it turned out that Glenn's condition continued to deteriorate. And on Wednesday, (8/4) afternoon, Glenn took his last breath at RS Setia Mitra.

"We lost (Glenn Fredly) at 18:47 WIB. And as for the reason, the hospital has provided an explanation which is meningitis complications," explained Uchie.

9. Glenn's Message to the Family

Uchie revealed that the family has accepted Glenn's departure willingly. She mentioned that this is God's good plan and expressed gratitude for all the prayers that have been given for her beloved brother.

Before departing, Glenn apparently left a message. The late singer asked the family to love each other despite his absence.

"He had a lot of messages for us on his last day, he said 'Family stick together,' and he was truly a low-profile person," Uchie said.
