The Duo Maia, consisting of Maia Estianty and Mey Chan, went viral back in 2008. Unfortunately, in 2018, Mey Chan resigned to focus on her family while pursuing a solo career. Recently, they reunited and performed at Pestapora 2024! What does the comeback of this duo look like?
Maia Estianti stated that she performed at Pestapora in less than ideal conditions. She is still jetlagged from just returning from her vacation in Italy.Â
Maia also mentioned that her age, no longer young, makes her breath not as optimal as before. This condition is worsened by the fact that she hasn't performed in a long time.
However, all those obstacles were successfully overcome by Maia. She and Mey Chan are determined to get back on stage after a long hiatus.
Maia also admitted that she is now more enthusiastic because her performance is being watched live by her son, El Rumi, and Syifa Hadju, her future daughter-in-law.Â
The duo Maia is scheduled to perform at Pestapora on Saturday, September 21, 2024. They invite the audience to reminisce with old hits like 'Emang Gue Pikirin' to 'Lelaki Buaya Darat'.
As is known, Duo Maia has changed personnel several times. The early era of this duo began when Maia duetted with Pinkan Mambo under the name Ratu.
Maia's duet partner then changed to Mulan Jameela. In 2008, Mey Chan finally replaced Mulan after passing the audition.Â
Until now, Maia is said to have not found a replacement for Mey Chan. Therefore, Duo Maia is also known simply as MAIA as a solo project of Maia Estianty.Â
