8 Portraits of SBY Painting the View of Mount Lawu at the Pestapora Stage, Turns Out He Learned from YouTube

On the Klab Klub Stage, SBY was accompanied by Vincent and Desta as hosts. In front of an audience that had filled the area, SBY painted a view of Mount Lawu, which is located in Central Java and borders Ponorogo. 

"I will draw a natural landscape in Indonesia, there is one mountain, Mount Lawu in Central Java from Ponorogo," said SBY from the stage.

SBY added that his painting this time will depict the beauty of the sunset over Mount Lawu. "Sunset over Mount Lawu," he continued while starting a large brushstroke on the prepared canvas.

On that occasion, SBY revealed how he learned to paint through YouTube. "I didn't attend art school. I just watched tutorials from YouTube," he said.

Interestingly, SBY only used a large brush in this painting process. He explained that the choice of a large brush was intended to make it easier for him to create dramatic sunset effects in the painting.

SBY also shared his views on why he often paints the natural scenery of Indonesia. According to him, amidst all the problems in the world, God still provides the beauty of nature as a source of tranquility.

"This is somewhat philosophical, in this world there are many problems, but remember that God presents us with the beauty of nature, amidst the chaos of the world, that's why we choose the beauty of nature. There is tranquility there," said SBY followed by applause from the audience.

"Everything flows, it cannot be planned, just follow your heart and your feelings, if you want to paint, just paint wherever. Don't be afraid. Art is freedom, just be brave," he emphasized.
