Critically Commented for Singing, Mayang and Chika, Vanessa Angel's Sisters Admit Not Seeking Popularity - Idolize Avril Lavigne

Kapanlagi.com - A few days ago, Vanessa Angel's siblings, Mayang and Chika, uploaded a music video on Youtube. They performed the song "Kemarin" which was popularized by the band Seventeen.

The video immediately received harsh comments from netizens. Despite the dislikes, the video managed to become the number one trending on the platform.

In response to the public's reaction, Mayang and Chika didn't pay much attention to it. They made the music video to commemorate their late sister.

"We didn't think about it. Our initial intention to sing that song was not to seek popularity or likes. But it unexpectedly became trending, we didn't expect that. We didn't hope for it, but alhamdulillah, it's a bonus," said Chika when met in Pandemangan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/12/2021).

1. More Accustomed

Speaking of singing, Mayang and Chika admit that they have been interested in the field since they were young. On regular days, both of them often practice from being stiff at first to being more accustomed.

"I've liked singing for eight years. I've practiced, from not being able to sing at all to being able to. From having a stiff jaw, now I'm more accustomed," said Mayang when met at the same place.

2. Idolize Avril Lavigne

Mayang and Chika revealed that they both idolize international musician Avril Lavigne. Late Vanessa Angel apparently also idolized the singer of the song "When You're Gone."

"We like Avril. Me, Chika, and the late Kak Vanes are big fans of Avril. Since we were young, we have also collected Avril's albums and attended her concerts," explained Mayang.

3. Imagining Mama's Face

There is a song by Avril Lavigne that Mayang often sings. When singing that song, she remembers her late mother who passed away a few years ago.

"I often sing When You're Gone. The song is nice, it's about someone's departure. At that time, during practice, I also imagined my late mother's face," said Mayang.

4. Rejecting the Term Opportunistic

Suddenly singing and uploading it on YouTube, Mayang and Chika admitted that it was not opportunistic. They only sang as a tribute to their late brother.

"No, I didn't have any opportunistic intentions from the beginning. How could we be opportunistic when we are still grieving," added Mayang.

5. Not Forced by Father

It is further explained that singing is not under the coercion of Doddy Sudrajat as has been widely circulated. But because of Mayang and Chika's own desire.

"Our own desire. There is no coercion. We want to show this," Chika firmly said.
