Critiqued for Selling Groceries on TikTok, Here's Ruben Onsu's Clarification

Kapanlagi.com - Ruben Onsu is one of the many artists who actively sell their products through the TikTok application. Recently, Ruben Onsu was known to sell groceries on TikTok Shop.

Immediately, Ruben Onsu's actions received a lot of criticism from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) entrepreneurs because it made their products less popular. Regarding this matter, Ruben Onsu finally gave his clarification. He explained that he also sells groceries to help one of the MSME entrepreneurs.

"As for the oil, I have my own because it belongs to me. There's a factory that I saw in the area, they came and tried to offer blah blah blah, basically I don't want to acquire it, you manage it. I'll just buy it and save the people working there. Because I have a machine, if it doesn't operate, it will definitely break," said Ruben Onsu when met in Tendean area, South Jakarta, Monday (18/9).

1. Only Helping to Promote

Ruben Onsu does not sell well-known brands, instead he helps market UMKM products that he believes have great potential but are less known to the public.

"Thankfully, praise God when the oil is already running, they offer whether Mr. Ruben wants this, I have sugar, yes okay, I am for entrepreneurs who have great potential, I will definitely say that they need to be saved because they are from areas where they already have all the machinery but they can't sell well because they are losing to big competitors," he explained.

"The point is, I keep taking your products, they come to me when I'm resting in the villa and then my team introduces them to me, and I accept them with an open heart. Oh yes, they are very good. Businesses that I believe have potential. Don't just focus on big brands, it's actually the small ones like this that are never heard of unless artists promote them," Ruben Onsu continued.

2. Not Harming Others

Regarding the many criticisms that come to him, Ruben Onsu also doesn't pay too much attention to them. He never feels like he's harming others, instead he helps the businesses of people who really need to be promoted.

"I never harm others, in fact, I help promote the products of our affiliates. That's why I'm used to the news being noisy, because if society cares, they don't need to be taught. I actually have a sense of caring, of taking care of employees, and having empathy for them, before they speak like that," he concluded.
