Decades of Working in the Music Industry, Erwin Gutawa Receives Cultural Award 2020

Kapanlagi.com - Not familiar anymore with Erwin Gutawa, a figure who has been working in the music industry for decades, finally received the Cultural Award 2020. Gita Gutawa's father did not run out of work even during the pandemic, he continued to be creative and productive with many virtual concerts involving musicians and singers.

Erwin Gutawa is very grateful to have received the Indonesian Cultural Award in 2020. Out of 33 people in DKI Jakarta, Erwin Gutawa is one of the two who received the cultural award in the category of Creator, Pioneer & Innovator in his expertise as a Composer/Conductor.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), what I have been doing in the music industry has received appreciation from the government. Hopefully, Indonesia progresses in all fields," said Erwin Gutawa, expressing his gratitude for this award.

On December 5, 2020, last Saturday, the award was presented by Mr. Judi Wahjudin (Director of Human Resources Development & Cultural Institutions) and assessed by Mrs. Julianti S Parani, held at the Aula Kemendikbud Jakarta.

1. Consistently Through His Orchestra

It is worth knowing, Erwin Gutawa is also consistent, as evidenced by his orchestra always exploring the potentials of Indonesian music, both in the industry and non-industry.

Several different genres of songs are also performed by the Conductor, such as pop, classical, rock, and even traditional music. Erwin Gutawa is also the one who pioneered the Indonesian Solo Singer Concert (Chrisye, KD, Rossa, Afgan, etc.).

In addition, he regularly organizes salute/tribute concerts (Koesplus, Titiek Puspa, Guruh Soekarno Putra, 3 female composers) with the aim of appreciating the figures of Indonesian music heroes.

Not to forget Erwin Gutawa's idealistic project to nurture talented Indonesian children 'Above Average' which he does with the intention of creating regeneration and showcasing the greatness of Indonesian children both inside and outside the country.

2. Appreciation Program

This Cultural Award is a government appreciation program through the Ministry of Education and Culture given to individuals who have proven high integrity in their efforts to preserve and develop Indonesian culture.

This appreciation program, as one way to internalize cultural values, is expected to build public awareness and increase the motivation of the younger generation to be more concerned about the development of Indonesian culture.
