Singer Dee Lestari and her sister, Arina, vocalist of the band Mocca, are currently grieving. Their father, Yohan Simangunsong, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the age of 85. Currently, the body of Yohan Simangunsong is being laid to rest at the RSPAD Gatot Soebroto funeral home in Central Jakarta.
Dee Lestari revealed her father's health history before his passing. Dee Lestari admitted that her father had undergone nerve surgery in mid-December 2023.
"So my father had a nerve surgery in mid-December because his nerve was pinched, causing difficulty in moving," said Dee Lestari at RSPAD funeral home, Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta, on Friday (2/1/2024).
"So at that time, my father wanted me to be able to at least go to the bathroom independently, to make movements that don't inconvenience others," added Dee Lestari.
Dee Lestari said that the surgery was her father's will because he wanted to recover from his illness. Therefore, the children did not force the deceased to undergo surgery.
"Actually, as children, we didn't force our father to have surgery. Actually, it was really his spirit, his desire not to inconvenience others. It's really my father's character," she said.
Father Dee Lestari's operation went smoothly. However, it turned out that her father had a lung infection that spread to other organs.
"The operation was successful and smooth. However, after some time, complications arose due to a lung infection that caused problems in other organs," said Dee.
Subsequently, her father had to be hospitalized and passed away. Dee Lestari stated that her father's body will be buried on Sunday, February 4, 2024 in North Sumatra.
"So his immune system was not like that of young and healthy people. His physical condition eventually deteriorated and he was hospitalized since January 13 and passed away on Thursday," concluded Dee Lestari.
