Denada's Story of Gratitude for Knowing Zumba, Getting Extra Income - Having Her Own Studio

There is something that singer Denada is most grateful for in her life. That is being able to know zumba, which now allows her to have additional income.

"I feel so grateful to know zumba, not only does it make my body healthier and my mental state better, but it also gives me extra income," said Denada when met in the Cipete area, South Jakarta, not long ago.

Denada tells the story of how she first got to know zumba and eventually became an instructor, which allowed her to have a side income. The mother of one child became familiar with zumba in 2020. At that time, she was stuck in Singapore due to the ongoing pandemic and her child Aisha's chemotherapy treatment.

"Well, eventually at that time, I hit a mental wall, I needed support, and financially, I needed support as well. That's when I saw the opportunity in zumba," said Denada.

After participating in several zumba sessions in Singapore, the 45-year-old woman dared to register herself as a zumba instructor.

"It's just too natural for me to see zumba for the first time and immediately fall in love with it. I love dancing, I love music, and zumba, you know, it's an exercise that involves music and dancing," explained Denada.

Denada's first job as an instructor was virtual due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. She was asked to be an instructor several times.

"As a zumba instructor, I started getting job offers for virtual events. For example, companies would say 'let's have a virtual zumba for mental health, to entertain all of us who are WFH (work from home) so that we don't feel stressed, so that we don't get bored at home', 'let's call Denada', and finally I started teaching virtually, starting from there," she said.

As time went by, Denada managed to build her own sports studio. The money she used to build the studio came from her income as a zumba instructor all this time.

"I never thought I would have my own sports studio, but now I have my own sports studio at home. It's crazy, it feels unbelievable. I used to even have unpaid electricity bills when I was in Singapore," said Denada.

"Every week I teach. On Saturdays, I teach zumba classes for children, on Sundays, I teach zumba classes for adults, and every week I have something I look forward to, and I earn extra income," Denada concluded.
