Director Ody Harahap scolds Jefri Nichol for being late for reading, turns out to be a trick to delve into the character

Kapanlagi.com - Jefri Nichol and Syifa Hadju are the main actors in Ody Harahap's film titled MOHON DOA RESTU. The two young stars are cast as Satya and Mel, who are busy preparing for their wedding.

During the reading process, Ody felt that Nichol had not yet portrayed the introverted character of Satya. So he took advantage of Nichol being late for the reading to provoke him.

"I felt that the introverted character of Satya, who is afraid to speak up, hadn't emerged yet. So I tested whether he could meet my expectations. So when he was late for the reading, I scolded him and said, 'Do you want to quit this film? If you want to quit, go ahead, I'll replace you.' Then he just stayed quiet," said Ody, interviewed in the Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (27/9/2023).

1. Syifa Hadju Forbidden to Accompany

Syifa Hadju had been kind enough to offer herself to accompany Jefri Nichol in order to portray the character as desired by the director. However, Ody Harahap preferred to do it his own way. And apparently, he succeeded.

"Syifa had nothing to do at that time, she wanted to do a reading to accompany him. But I said, 'No need because I want to scold Nichol,'" recalled the bespectacled director.

2. Bringing Up Cut Mini's Name

In his anger, Ody Harahap brought up Cut Mini's name, who happened to be involved as a cast member in MOHON DOA RESTU. He stated that Mini is an actress who dislikes seeing actors being late.

"With this threat, 'If you're late, you will be scolded by Cut Mini on set, do you want that?'. Finally, he stayed up all night so as not to be late and avoid being scolded by Cut Mini. Perhaps with all the threats and scolding, he could feel the need to obey and not be able to speak," concluded Ody.
