Kapanlagi.com - Kimberly Ryder, a 30-year-old actress, filed for divorce from her husband, Edward Akbar, after nearly six years of marriage. This decision has surprised the public, especially because this celebrity couple has been known as one of the best couples in the Indonesian entertainment world.
According to West Jakarta PA Public Relations, Wawan Iskandar, the divorce lawsuit was filed by Kimberly's lawyer through the e-court system. The lawsuit is registered with the number 916/Pdt.G/2024/PAJP and mediation will be conducted at the first hearing scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
"Yes, it's true. It was filed on Friday afternoon. There is a lawsuit. She registered to file for divorce from her husband," said Wawan Iskandar, Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Religious Court, on Monday (15/7/2024).
Kimberly only requests custody of her two children, Rayden and Aisyah, from the marriage. Wawan refuses to disclose the reasons why Kimberly filed for divorce, stating that it is within the jurisdiction of the judge.
Edward Akbar also responded through his personal Instagram. He admitted to being surprised by his wife's decision and hopes that everything will be fine soon.
Kimberly and Edward got married on August 26, 2018, and were blessed with two children, a boy and a girl. During their 6 years of marriage, their household always appeared harmonious and peaceful.
Kimberly and Edward first met at one of the shooting locations in 2013. Edward became interested in Kimberly because she regularly performed the dawn prayer, which was the main reason Edward admired Kimberly and decided to pursue a relationship with her.
Both of them officially started dating in 2016. However, Kimberly and Edward had a long-distance relationship (LDR) because Kimberly had to continue her Master's degree in London.
Since they started dating, Kimberly and Edward have never flaunted their relationship on social media. They always looked romantic when they got married, so it's no wonder that many netizens were shocked to learn that Kimberly filed for divorce from her husband.
Edward Akbar admitted that he was surprised by the news of the divorce lawsuit, expressing his surprise through a post on his personal Instagram account. He hopes that his wife's decision will go well and not be interfered by external parties.
"Astaghfirullah, pray that everything will be fine, ma @kimbrlyryder for us and Rayden and Aisyah, without any intervention from anyone. Especially those who do not know our true journey," Edward wrote.
