Divorce Proceedings and Mediation Process Still Running Smoothly Despite Zumi Zola and Sherrin Tharia's Absence

Kapanlagi.com - Today, Wednesday (1/7), the divorce trial of Zumi Zola and Sherrin Tharia was held again at the South Jakarta Religious Court. The trial was conducted virtually and included mediation.

The virtual divorce trial of Zumi Zola was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the South Jakarta Religious Court, Cece Rukmana Ibrahim. One of the reasons is because the former Governor of Jambi is still serving his sentence at Sukamiskin Prison in Bandung.

"Yes, there was a trial on behalf of ST against ZZ, and the trial was conducted via teleconference," said Cece Rukmana Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer of the South Jakarta Religious Court.

1. Represented by Legal Counsel

Although both did not attend the hearing directly, the mediation went smoothly. Kadi, as a non-judicial mediator, when met at the South Jakarta Religious Court, stated that both parties were represented by their respective legal counsel with a special power of attorney.

"So, if the one being mediated is the person directly involved, it should be, if not possible, it can be done through legal counsel as long as there is a special power of attorney. Zumi Zola cannot attend (because he is in prison) so he uses legal counsel with a special power of attorney," said Kadi.

2. Agree on Child Custody

In addition, Kadi also stated that Zumi Zola and Sherrin Tharia will still proceed with the divorce. During the mediation, both parties have agreed on matters regarding child custody.

"So, it turns out they can be mediated but the divorce is still happening, but it is a divorce with an agreement. What was mediated is about child custody and expenses for the child," said Kadi.
