Due to Corona, GIGI's 25th Anniversary Concert is Forced to be Held Without Audience

Kapanlagi.com - Recently, GIGI held a concert to celebrate their 25-year career in the Indonesian music industry. What's unique about this concert is that it was held without an audience.

They said that everything was already well-prepared, from the venue to the stage setup. But then, the coronavirus outbreak happened just before the concert.

1. No Audience Allowed

"Well, regarding the show, it was more of a local thing. Only journalists were there to cover GIGI's anniversary and all that. The media made it national news, so I was thinking why not involve TV people, right? Then I met someone from Trans 7, and long story short, we had a meeting. We started preparing everything," said Armand Maulana when contacted by phone on Monday (23/3).

"But as the day approached, suddenly there was Covid-19. I wondered why, because it was only 3 days away, March 25 (2020). I thought, why not? Initially, we wanted to have the concert at Balai Sarbini, but then Covid-19 made things more chaotic. We had another meeting, and the Jakarta government allowed us to proceed with the concert, but without an audience. Initially, they said no more than 1000 people, then it became 800. That's okay," he explained.

2. Held Without Audience

"Well, when it comes to shows, it's usually the journalists who broadcasted it yesterday, GIGI's birthday and blabla, the ones who made it national news were the journalists, that's what I thought, why not just connect with people from TV, and then I met someone from Trans 7, long story short, we had a meeting. We started preparing everything," said Armand Maulana when contacted by phone on Monday (23/3).

"Approaching the D-day suddenly there's Covid 19, why is this happening, even though it's only 3 days away from March 25th (2020), I thought why not, initially we wanted to have it at Balai Sarbini (the concert), then suddenly Covid messed things up, we had another meeting and the DKI government still allowed us to perform but without an audience, they said it couldn't be more than 1000, okay, 800 then. It's okay," he explained.
