Breaking News! JKT48 Forced to Reduce Members in Order to Survive, Check out the Following 5 Facts
From a business perspective, JKT48 is experiencing a very painful loss.
Kapanlagi.com - Surprising news has just been announced by Melody Nurramdhani Laksani, the General Manager of JKT48 Theater. Through JKT48's official YouTube channel, she stated that the idol group is currently in a painful state due to the Covid-19 pandemic that has been affecting them since March.
As is known, for months the theater located in the Senayan area has not been operating in order to reduce crowds. Events like handshakes can no longer be done, resulting in a decrease in income.
"Until November, we have done everything we could to survive. However, honestly, with the suspension of theater performances, handshakes, and concerts, we feel that the real purpose of JKT48, which is to provide energy and spirit to everyone in Indonesia, cannot be achieved to the maximum. Even though everyone has tried their best, the fact is that, from a business perspective, the group has suffered a very painful loss. So we are in a very difficult position to continue operating," said Melody on Tuesday (10/11/2020).
Various possibilities have been considered by the leaders of JKT48. However, choosing to disband the group after nine years of work in Indonesia is clearly not a wise decision. Therefore, it was finally decided to reduce the number of members, totaling 70 people, as well as staff.
"After continuous discussions, there is only one way for JKT48 to continue. That way is to reduce the number of members and staff of JKT48 so that this group does not disband. That is the only way. We have decided to make a major change or restructuring in this group, and this is a very big decision. But we have no choice but to build everything from scratch," Melody continued.
Regarding the names of members who will no longer be joining, they will be announced later. Melody understands and realizes that this is a difficult step for many parties, especially for the fans who have been loyal supporters.
"Regarding the members and future plans related to this, we will announce further. There are surely various thoughts and feelings arising in your hearts right now. It may be difficult to ask for understanding for this difficult step. But we believe and trust that you will understand. Therefore, we kindly ask for support for JKT48. Thank you," Melody concluded.
The ongoing pandemic that has had a significant impact on various fields has made people hope for the situation to improve soon. One way to achieve this is by implementing health protocols.
It is important to #RememberMother'sMessage, starting from regularly washing hands with soap, wearing masks, and avoiding crowded places. Hopefully, by doing these simple things, we can soon put an end to this pandemic.
