Experiencing Sexual Harassment, Soraya Larasati Explains the Reason for Leaving the House

Kapanlagi.com - Last Sunday (4/5), Soraya Larasati experienced an unpleasant incident. While she was jogging alone in the morning, she encountered a sexual harassment act committed by a motorcyclist. Soraya admitted that her chest was touched, and the perpetrator fled immediately.

The 33-year-old woman actually shared a lengthy story about this incident on her social media account. Soraya received various support and sympathy, although some people blamed her for still going out amidst the government's stay-at-home recommendation.

When contacted by the media, Soraya tried to explain the incident in detail to avoid any misunderstandings.

"The chronology of the incident that I experienced last Sunday, April 5, 2020. I am here just to clarify and tell you how it happened," Soraya Larasati said when contacted by KapanLagi.com via a text message on Monday (4/6).

1. Explain the Reason for Leaving the House

Soraya and her family have actually been following the government's recommendation to work from home for the past few weeks. However, it just so happened that on that day, Sunday, she had a plan to go grocery shopping with her husband, as well as do some light exercise as a substitute for the canceled CFD.

"Because I had a long run planned with my friend, I had planned to run a long distance and my husband didn't want to join, so he decided to wait at the designated finish point. Well, that point is quite far from my house, in sector 9, and my house is in sector 1," Soraya recalled.

"I decided to start running from home, and because I started running late, around 7 in the morning, my friend had already started running because her house is not far from mine. So we agreed to share our live location to meet in the middle, so we didn't have to wait," added Doni Amaldi's wife.

2. Call Husband Directly

Furthermore, Soraya explained that she was already very familiar with the route she was taking. However, at that time, the road conditions were quite empty, considering that most people in the area now stay at home. Then the unwanted incident happened.

"At that time, because the incident happened so quickly, like someone snatching something, and because he was also riding a motorcycle, I didn't have time to think about screaming or taking a picture of the perpetrator. The first thing I thought was to say something, I looked around and saw a traditional herbal medicine seller in front of me riding a bicycle. I asked her, 'Did you see the person who touched my chest earlier?'. She said she didn't see it. She said she saw it earlier because I mentioned it, she thought I fell," Soraya explained.

"After that incident, my first action was to immediately call my husband, to come to the scene. When they arrived, I explained the chronology of the incident. After that, we continued running as usual," she continued.

3. Already Followed Government's Appeal

Soraya once again emphasized that she has already complied with the government's appeal to stay at home. However, because there is an urgent need to replenish food supplies, she decided to go out that day.

"Well, here I am initially afraid to go out alone and it's actually better not to leave the house, but because I have a need to go to the traditional market and I have promised my friend and husband, so okay. Our family has been practicing social distancing as recommended, not gathering in groups and maintaining distance from my friend as well," she concluded.
