As the title suggests, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle - Akaza's Return mostly showcases the battle of Akaza, who is Upper Moon rank 3, against Tanjiro and Tomioka. This part has become one of the most emotional segments in the journey of the Kimetsu no Yaiba anime.

Not only does it present brutal battles in the Infinity Castle, but it also explores the humanity of one of the most iconic Upper Moons; Akaza. For those of you still wondering about the ending, let's discuss it together in a casual and easy-to-understand way.

The Infinity Castle arc brings the Demon Slayers face to face with the Upper Moon ranks in a life-and-death battle at the Endless Castle. One of the most captivating duels is between Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka against Akaza, Upper Moon Three, who is known to be almost impossible to defeat.

Akaza appears as a demon who is not only physically strong but also mentally stubborn. He rejects the concepts of weakness and death, continuing to fight even when his body is shattered. However, behind this monstrous figure lies a human past filled with wounds and tragedy.

At the climax, Akaza is actually at the point of defeat. His head has been severed, his body is crushed, but he can still move due to his unreasonable determination. Meanwhile, Tanjiro and Tomioka are also at their limits, running out of ideas to end Akaza's life.

The turning point comes when memories of his past as a human named Hakuji resurface. He remembers his father, his fiancée, and the peaceful life he once had before everything was brutally taken away. This memory triggers an inner conflict that he has buried for hundreds of years.

Ultimately, it is this memory of the past that leads Akaza to choose to stop, reject regeneration, and allow himself to be destroyed with full awareness. This ending feels bitter, but also human. Akaza is not a hero, but he ultimately confronts the regrets he has been denying all along.

After Akaza Return, the story of Infinity Castle is clearly not over. The next film will take the audience into a much more brutal and emotional battle, especially against the remaining Upper Moons and a direct confrontation with Muzan Kibutsuji.

The focus of the story will shift to the fate of the other Hashira, with higher stakes and significant casualties. Tanjiro will also face his toughest test, not just in terms of strength, but also mentally and in determination as a Demon Slayer. It can be said that the next film is a straight path to the final climax of Demon Slayer.

The next two films are scheduled for release in 2027 and 2029 respectively. It’s still quite a while, so please be patient everyone :)
