On Sunday (29/3) afternoon, Margareth was driving her black Honda Brio out of the Lippo Karawaci residential area. At that time, the 26-year-old woman was not focused on driving because she was replying to a message on her mobile phone. Meanwhile, the car she was driving was moving quite fast.

Unfortunately, when Margareth was not focused, the victim named Andre happened to be crossing the road with his pet dog and child. The fatal accident was inevitable, causing Andre and his dog to die on the spot. Meanwhile, the child survived.

The incident immediately caused a commotion among the surrounding residents. Shortly after, the victim's wife arrived at the scene, but was scolded by the perpetrator. After a quarrel ensued, the police finally came to calm the situation and secure the perpetrator.

2. Not a College Student

The identity of the perpetrator was finally revealed by the police. Previously, there were rumors that the hit-and-run driver was a college student from a private university. However, it turns out that the rumors were false.

Currently, the police have designated Margareth as a suspect. The perpetrator faces a 6-year prison sentence, as it was found that there was also Korean alcoholic beverage (soju) in her car.

Furthermore, Margareth did not deny that she was not focused while driving because she was under the influence of alcohol and also using her cellphone.

"It's true that there was Soju, and we have secured it. The threat is 6 years in prison and a fine of Rp 12 billion, based on Article 311 paragraph 7 Jucto 310 paragraph 4, Traffic Law," said Ipda Heri, the Head of Traffic Accident Unit of Tangerang Metro Police, on Tuesday (31/3/2020).

Interestingly, from the circulating news, there is a netizen who mentioned that Margareth is a close friend of Frank Hutapea, who is the son of the famous lawyer, Hotma Paris. It is said that Frank and Margareth were close friends around 2014 to 2015 and often traveled together.

Shortly after, Frank immediately spoke up to clarify the news. According to him, the information is false. Frank admitted that he is not friends with the perpetrator of the Karawaci accident.

"Referring to the Instagram post that mentions my name in the viral traffic accident broadcast recently and also entered Lambe Turah. I inform that I am not friends with the person in question and if there is any more information that wants to be published regarding the accident that has no connection to the perpetrator or the accident, please block it," Frank wrote in one of his Instagram posts.

Although he claims to not know the perpetrator, Frank does not forget to express his condolences for the death of Andre.

"I strongly condemn whatever happened, and I also offer my deepest condolences for the victim and his dog. Thank you and please understand. Frank Hutapea," wrote Frank.
