Fairuz A Rafiq Teaches Children to Fast from an Early Age, Prepares 'Reward Chart'

The holy month of Ramadan is a special moment for the family of Fairuz A Rafiq and Sonny Septian to educate their children about the practice of fasting. This couple has a unique and fun way to encourage their children, King Faaz and Queen Eijaz, to enthusiastically observe a full month of fasting.

One of the methods implemented is by providing rewards. Fairuz has prepared a reward chart system that includes stickers for each achievement of her children, ranging from full fasting to memorizing the Quran.

"Of course. So this year during Ramadan, there is a reward for the children, right? Those who fast can complete the activities that have been created like the reward chart and so on. Also, for their memorization," said Fairuz A Rafiq enthusiastically when met in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday (03/03/2026).

The strong religious education background in this family makes their children grow into pious individuals. Even though there are rewards, Fairuz is grateful that her children never demand excessive gifts because they already understand the essence of fasting itself.

For little Eijaz, who is only 4 years old, Fairuz and Sonny do not force him to fast completely. They focus more on introducing the atmosphere of Ramadan, such as involving Eijaz in sahur and breaking the fast together so that he gets used to it.

"Actually, the youngest Eijaz still has no obligations, but we just teach him. So, activities at home, breaking fast together, and involving him in sahur so that Eijaz knows about sahur," explained Fairuz.

Sonny Septian added that the atmosphere of sahur at their home is always cheerful. Although sometimes there is the drama of sleepiness when being woken up, the children's enthusiasm for worship is commendable. "Alhamdulillah, the children are always cheerful during sahur, full of spirit. They can also chat and joke around," Sonny added.

Besides fasting, the goal of completing the Quran is also a main focus for this family. King Faaz is reported to be in the process of completing the Quran in this blessed month, while Sonny is also striving to finish his reading.

"It seems like he is still just starting on juz 10," said Sonny providing an update about his son's memorization.
