Fedi Nuril: Royalty Negotiation in the Film Industry, A Fair Matter to Raise

Actor Fedi Nuril highlights the importance of royalty negotiations in the film industry. According to him, royalties are not something excessive to fight for, especially if a film is successful and continues to be shown on various platforms. He conveyed this when he was met in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta some time ago.

Here is a statement from Fedi Nuril regarding negotiations in the film industry!

"In my opinion, it is justified, especially if the film is considered successful and has a long lifespan. Because films are collective, they are made together, but it really goes back to the negotiations at the beginning," said Fedi.

He emphasizes that royalty negotiations should be conducted at the beginning of the project, so that all parties have a clear understanding. Fedi assesses that discussing royalties after the film is released is not the right time.

"If it is only raised after several years, that is not appropriate. So, negotiating at the beginning is important to ensure fairness for all parties," he added.

Fedi's personal experience serves as evidence that royalty negotiations can be done from the start. He admitted to having discussed this for one of the film projects he starred in, namely 'Ayat Ayat Cinta'. "I tried to negotiate at the beginning, and the result was for myself first," he briefly stated.

However, Fedi realizes that not all producers or film actors understand the importance of negotiating royalties. He believes that there needs to be awareness from both parties to open discussions.

"Hoping for producers to be very generous is a tall order. But if we just wait, that's not quite right either. So, it's better to propose first, that's not wrong, right? It's normal and can be negotiated," said Fedi.

In his view, royalties should be an additional form of appreciation for film actors, especially if the film continues to generate profits through screenings on various platforms.

However, Fedi also reminds that the film industry carries significant risks, so negotiations must take into account the conditions of the producer or investor.

"Big producer capital, the risks are high, many lose rather than gain. So, just submitting it is not a problem," he explained.

Through open and fair discussions, Fedi hopes that royalties can become part of the agreement that is more often discussed in the Indonesian film industry. Agree, KLovers? Don't forget to check other news only at KapanLagi.com, if not now, when?
