Monica Kezia Sembiring, Miss Indonesia 2024, is preparing to compete in Miss World 2025, which will take place in Telangana, India, on May 31. This event is a great opportunity for her to showcase Indonesia's culture and beauty on the international stage.

"For months, I have been making various preparations and learning with one goal, which is to make Indonesia proud at Miss World," said Monica at a press conference in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Thursday (24/4/2025). Here are the details.

As a girl born in Medan, North Sumatra, Monica feels called to introduce her ancestral culture. She chose the Tor-Tor dance as a form of respect for the traditions of North Sumatra, even though she did not have a dancing background before.

"I learned the Tor-Tor dance for about four months, although on and off. At first, I wanted to perform another dance, but in the end, I challenged myself to showcase the Tor-Tor dance," Monica explained.

In addition to traditional dance, Monica will also wear outfits designed by local designers. This aims to highlight the beauty of Indonesian culture while also showcasing the hospitality of the nation on the international stage.

"We strongly believe that Monica can portray the true Indonesian woman who is not only beautiful but also has a conscience and extraordinary talent," said Kanti Mirdianti, Project Director of the Miss Indonesia Organization.

Monica is also preparing a social project titled 'Pipeline for Lifeline' for the Beauty With a Purpose category. This project aims to address the difficulties of clean water in Ciseke Village, Tangerang, Banten. She is designing a viable piping and sanitation system for the local community.

"I want this project to be a sustainable solution for the people of Ciseke Village, so they can live more prosperously," said Monica.

As part of the competition, Monica will face various challenges, including Head to Head Challenge, Top Model, Talent Show, Sports Competition, Multimedia, and Beauty With a Purpose.

Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, Founder of the Miss Indonesia Organization, stated that Monica has undergone intensive training for 11 months. "We hope Monica can give her best and make Indonesia shine on the world stage," she said.
