This statement was made by Melly at a forum themed "Steering Innovation, Inclusivity and Diversity Through Gender-Balanced Parliaments for a Future-Ready ASEAN". She believes that diversity in parliament is an important asset in facing global and local challenges.   "Innovation is essential to address global and local challenges. A diverse parliament can generate new ideas and creative solutions," said Melly.

According to Melly, a parliament dominated by one gender risks producing biased and non-inclusive policies. She considers it important to have balance so that every group in society feels represented in the legislative process. "Innovation is very important to face global and local challenges.
